Master Bedroom addition in Arlington, MA

Having the ultimate master bedroom was the goal in this design.   The left side of the home was the only choice location to expand, but the problem facing us on this end, was that the garage doors entered the house from the side, which would not work with the proposed addition.  In order to accommodate the addition, we extended the house by five feet and rotated the garage entry doors 90 degrees, and stepped back the master bedroom to break up the length of the wall at the front of the house and keep the quaint feel of the existing home.  We also suggested the addition of a real entry portico, which the existing house lacked.  This would help break up the front elevation and provide proper entry emphasis and protection.
